Why do I need permission to translate?

Mostly because it helps me keep track of existing translations, which allows me to link them in my AO3 notes more effectively. Here are some other reaons:

It allows me to establish a relationship with the translator, where I can thank them for their work and provide assistance/clarification where required (e.g. help with Australian slang)
It acts as a vetting process, so I know my work is being translated accurately. E.g. no name, fandom, pronoun changes (yes, I've heard horror stories...)

Translation conditions

Here are the basic conditions I will ask to be met if you are translating any of my works:

Link the original Ao3 work in the description or author's note at the beginning of your post
A link to any of my social media profiles is not required, but greatly appreciated
Let me know which website(s) you intend to post your translation to
Provide me with the link(s) to your translation(s)
You can use my moodboard/graphic or make your own
You must not change any of the characters names, pronouns, sex or gender
